Isobel le Breton lives in the troubled times of France at the turn of the century -  early 1400s.  Isobel is inspired by her contemporary Christine de Pizan, who invites Ladies to aspire to skill at arms and as well as gentler arts and sees virtue in a lively debate conducted with courtesy and grace.  Isobel has lived for many years in the Barony of Politarchopolis and is serving at present as Baroness of Politarchopolis alongside her lord and love, Baron Alessandro von Florenz.  Isobel is a jack of all trades and master of none.  She began her time in the Society as a fighter and musician and has developed an interest in all sorts of things.  Isobel has equal enthusiasm for being in the middle of a shield wall as she does for playing for dancers in a ball, practicing calligraphy or archery.
